Untitled Pandemic Journal

Day 1: 10/31/20
Today is Halloween, and it will certainly be different this year. I was hoping that my first
Halloween in college I would be going to some party or doing some sort of cool activity but
instead, I am at home, and possibly hanging out with a couple of friends. What are we planning
on doing? No clue. We wanted to go to a Drive-in movie theatre or go to Athens but my mom
was very against it, so now we have to find somewhere local. On the bright side, I am still at
least dressing up. I am being Velma from Scooby-Doo and my roommate Jessa is being
Daphne. The downside is that the mask will mess with the whole look of the costume. Oh yeah,
I am sick and tired of wearing these masks. No matter how careful I am they make me break out
and I just hate how they cover everyone’s faces so that you can hardly see who you’re talking
to, not to mention is smudges your makeup. I know they are necessary and I will keep wearing
them until we don’t have to anymore, but I just can’t wait till we can go places without having to
wear a mask. I do not really have much to say for today, and I will update tomorrow on how my
Halloween was.

Day 2: 11/01/20
Last night was actually pretty fun, a lot better than I thought it was going to be. We ended up
going to the Buford Corn maze and we did the Haunted Forest. We stood in line for over an
hour but we got to talk to this really funny little girl who was in the line next to us and we had a
dance battle. The Haunted Forest itself was really cool, and actually pretty scary! Sadly, I had to
go home soon after because it ran a lot later than I thought. Overall, a much better Halloween
than I thought it would be. Hopefully next year it’s even better! Anyways, I just got off work and it
was INSANELY busy because we had people coming in to buy things to re-stock their freezers
because the power had gone out. I am so glad to be quitting after this Tuesday!

Day 3: 11/02/20
Thank GOD for this time change, because I would literally be dead inside if I did not get an extra
hour of sleep. Anyway, I am not doing much today except for going to class and catching up on
some work so I have extra time to do my pre-production analysis for Script Analysis. There
really is not much else to talk about except that I am very eager for this semester to be over and
I am hoping that things will be better at Brenau next semester once this vaccine hopefully
comes out and works. Tomorrow is my last day of work and it is actually kind of a long day. I
hope they don’t stick me with cleaning duties or anything, I hate those shifts. Either way, I will
glad to be out because that will be one less thing on my plate. The only thing I will miss about
working at Publix is getting paid $10/hour :(.

Day 4: 11/03/20
Oh boy. Today is a big day, for many reasons. First of all, it is election day! I already
voted by absentee (which I regret doing) so my vote is secured, now I will just be
anxiously watching numbers. I want Trump to lose so bad, but I am mentally preparing
myself for that rather unfortunate outcome. Another thing happening today is my last
day of work! Maybe this will distract me from constantly refreshing to look at election
results. Anyways, I have class to go to soon, so this will be a brief entry. Tomorrow, I
shall update on how work was and what the results are for the election!

Day 5: 11/04/20
So no results yet. HOWEVER, it looks like Biden actually might win! He is leading right
now with 264 electoral votes. The states that are still counting are Nevada,
Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia. The bad news is that all these states except
for Nevada are leading red right now, so we need Nevada to hurry up and count. Some
people think that Georgia and maybe even Pennsylvania could flip to blue, which would
be really nice. Anyways, my last day at work was actually kind of nice, I did not have to
clean! I just talked to some of my co-workers about the election and turns out there are
a lot more Trump supporters there than I thought. The breakroom environment was
QUITE uncomfy. Anyways, I hope that Biden gets Nevada or even one of these
potential swing states, and I will possibly update tomorrow.

Day 6: 11/05/20
Still no election result yet, but Georgia is getting closer and closer to going blue!!! Also,
Pennsylvania’s margin is starting to close a bit as well. No idea what is happening in Nevada
though, it is taking forever. Today in script analysis my teacher was late so our class just vibed
for a good 15 minutes, it felt really nice. I wish I got to see them all in person, makes me very
sad. Anyways, that is all I have for today, maybe I will have results tomorrow.

Day 7: 11/06/20
JOE BIDEN IS LEADING IN GEORGIA AND WE ARE ABOUT TO FLIP TO BLUE!! Who knew
that Georgia would save this race? Also, it’s looking like we could even get Pennsylvania as
well! Anyways, I almost skipped class today because I am just feeling so tired of school. I am
kind of worried about having this much lack of motivation to do schoolwork this early in my
college career, I hope this doesn’t get worse. That is all I really have to share today.

Day 8: 11/07/20
BIDEN WON!!!!! BIDEN WON!!!!! TRUMP LOST!!!!! TRUMP LOST!!!!!

Day 9: 11/08/20
It is so funny that Donald Trump really thinks that he has actually won the election and that
there was massive election fraud. I can’t wait for a recount and then he finds out that he still lost.
Anyways, I am not really doing much today besides some schoolwork. Goodness I cannot WAIT
for this semester to end!!!

Day 10: 11/09/20
I finally got a chance to listen to Ariana Grande’s new album and I really like it!!! Definitely a lot
of new and original sounds from her that are really cool. Anyways, my dad’s birthday is
tomorrow and we are all going out to eat at Tuk Tuk, a really fancy Thai place in Atlanta. I have
to hop on my next class zoom soon, so this is all I will write today. I will update on how the
dinner was tomorrow.

Day 12: 11/11/20
I really do not have much to talk about today. I just got done with my intro to theatre class and
she let us go early to work on our papers. I actually got a surprisingly good grade on the rough
draft which was the midterm. A lot of other people scored much lower, but I got a 48/50. I guess
that means less stress for the final in that class! Also, I finally have an A in intro which is
amazing because I was failing for a bit. I really don’t have much to say except that I am excited
that the end of the semester is getting closer and closer!!

Day 13: 11/12/20
I have begun working on my final projects for some of my classes. I can’t believe we are getting
so close to the end of the semester, I am so happy. I even registered for second semester
classes today!! I’ll be doing 14 credit hours and I am super excited for all of the theatre classes I
will be in. I am most excited for Voice and Diction with Elisa Carlson, she is an absolute
LEGEND.

Day 14: 11/13/20
AHHH it is Friday the 13th!!! Tonight is GTA’s performance of Henry V and I am so excited to
see all of my talented friends in it. I have also seen pictures of the background designs for it and
it all looks amazing! I have lots of work to do today but I will try to get as much done as I can so
that I am able to enjoy the performance. Also, tomorrow is my dad’s birthday party with some of
my extended family, and we get to have Cheescake Factory cake!!! I am not excited for all of
the noise that will be in the house but I am definitely excited for the food. It will also be nice to
see and talk to family that I haven’t been with in a while, it will feel like my younger days where
we would have huge family gatherings and everyone was living in one state.

Day 15: 11/14/20
Today is my dad’s birthday party, and there is much to do around the house so this entry will be
brief. I have volunteered to pick up the cake and the candles merely just to treat myself to
Starbucks and get the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. I will update on how the party went
tomorrow!

Day 16: 11/15/20
Wow, the party last night was quite noisy. However, we all had fun and it was great to see family
again. Some bad news that I have learned is that I missed two AXO events without putting in an
excuse, which means I will get fined $100 for missing both of them. However, one of my sisters
is helping us out and finding bylaws that may get us out of having to pay a fine, so I am hoping
that will all work out for the best, because dues are already hella expensive. Ugh I am so ready
for this semester to end and to enjoy a nice long break!

Day 17: 11/16/20
I have begun the last full week of the semester!!! I am officially moving out on the 22nd and into
my new room in the AXO house! I will still get to room with Jessa next semester which I am very
happy about. However, I am starting to get stressed about doing all the work I need to do this
week. In addition, I am doing rehearsals via zoom this week for a friend’s scene for her Directing
I final, so now I have even more on my plate. I am excited to do the scene and I do not want to
let my friend and scene partner down, so I will not back out of it. I hope that the last bit of
motivation I have will last through this week, because I desperately need it.

Day 18: 11/17/20
Great news: Two of my final deadlines have been extended to next Monday, so now I do not
have to worry about getting it all done this week along with rehearsals. I had my first rehearsal
last night, and it was really fun! We are doing a scene from a Greek play called Lysistrata, and it
is a comedy about women who vow to refuse their husbands sex in order to get them to
surrender and end the war. The language is very hard and it is not very natural from an acting
standpoint, but Greek work is something that I have never done before so it will be a fun new
adventure. I am sad that we have to do this over zoom, but at least I do not have to worry about
taking time to go to and from Gainesville and I can spend longer working on schoolwork.

Day 19: 11/18/20
It is morning and today is the last class for my First Year Experience Class. This is honestly
crazy, this semester has felt like 5 years but also 5 weeks. I had my second rehearsal for the
scene last night, and it is going pretty good so far. We managed to get all of the blocking done,
now I just have to get a bit more familiar with the script so that I am not buried in it during the
performance. ONLY 1 WEEK LEFT!!!!!!

Day 20: 11/19/20
It is night time, and we actually got done with rehearsals and we were able to film the
performance tonight instead of tomorrow! I am honestly pretty relieved to have it all done, that
way I can focus on school now. Tomorrow is the last day for my AS 115 Resources for College
Success class, which I am pretty excited for. I have a final project and several assignments I
neeed to get done for that class, so I will definitely be pretty busy tomorrow! Getting closer and
closer to Winter Break!!!!

Day 21: 11/20/20
Welp, today is the last journal entry. I ended up not having class for AS 115, so now I am just
doing all of those assignments. Honestly, this journal has been pretty un-historic for a Women
Writing History project. I appreciate that you guys think I am special, but really I am not.
Anyways, I hope that this journal will provide a more realistic interpretation of what COVID was
like for all of us. I didn’t really discover anything incredible or philosophical during quarantine. I
ate, stressed about school, and kept to myself, which was about all I had the energy to do. I am
glad that this semester is wrapping up and I get to sit back and actually enjoy myself for the first
time in a while. Peace out, journal.
