Quilted Pandemic Journal

My journal submission is a selection of hand stitched and hand quilted art quilts made between March 2020 and May 2021 which reflect my experience of the world during the pandemic.  Quilting feels as essential to me as language, it is an almost daily practice and often evolves in series and thematically, taking inspiration from my immediate surroundings and experiences in my daily life, as well as my intersections with historic events, holiday traditions, celebrations of family members and friends and their life events and memories. I try to challenge myself with a new technique for each piece I make, adding dimension and texture with applique, embroidery and assorted embellishments.
